Apple Island Resort Guidelines

Welcome to Apple Island Resort, located in the town of South Hero, Vermont, where the waters of Lake Champlain border our picturesque resort. We’re excited to have you join us for what promises to be a memorable stay. While our primary goal is to ensure your enjoyment, it’s essential to familiarize yourself with our rules and regulations, outlined below. Our dedicated and friendly staff are always available to assist, ensuring your experience is nothing short of exceptional.

ARRIVAL DURING BUSINESS HOURS

  • Guests arriving during regular business hours must check in at the office.
  • Payment of any outstanding balance is required at least 24 hours before check-in.
  • We accept payments made by Visa, MasterCard, or Discover. Personal Checks are only accepted for advanced deposits received at least 14 days prior to the arrival date.

AFTER HOURS ARRIVAL

  • Check-in packets will be located by the front door of the office.
  • Please check in at the office the morning of the next business day.

LATE CHECKOUT

  • Subject to approval and availability, a late departure may be possible if there is no incoming reservation for the day. A late departure fee of $50 permits guests to extend their stay from the usual 11:00 am checkout time to 4:00 pm. Approval of this extension is at the sole discretion of the office. Should a guest wish to stay after 4:00 pm, an additional day’s charge will apply.
  • Any extra charges must be paid prior to departure.

VISITORS

  • All visitors must be accompanied by a registered guest while on the resort grounds. Unaccompanied visitors will be requested to leave the premises.
  • Visiting hours are from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm.

CANCELLATION POLICY

  • When booking with a promotional rate, refunds may not be available. Please review the terms of your promotional offer carefully before booking.
  • For non-promotional reservations:
  • Cancellations made 30 or more days prior to the scheduled arrival date will incur a $50 cancellation fee.
  • Cancellations made within 30 days of the scheduled arrival date will result in the forfeiture of one night’s stay.
  • No refunds will be issued on the day of arrival or after check-in. No refunds for early departures.
  • Please note that no credits or refunds will be issued due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

SITE REGULATIONS

  • Only one RV per campsite is allowed. Types of RVs permitted are Class A, Class B, Class C, Travel Trailers, and 5th Wheels. Homemade rigs or conversions are not permitted. Vehicles such as passenger cars or vans, which are not specifically designed as recreational vehicles, are not permitted to be used as such on the premises.
  • All rates include 4 guests. Maximum of 6 people per site. An extra occupant fee will be charged for additional guests.
  • Tents are not permitted at Apple Island Resort. Guests may have one canopy, with or without screens per site. The canopy may not exceed 12’ wide x 12’ long x 8’ high. Guests are not permitted to sleep overnight under the canopy.
  • Quiet Hours: 10:00 pm – 8:00 am.
  • Registered guests are responsible for the conduct of their children and visitors. Children may not be left in the Resort unattended/unsupervised.
  • Fires are permitted in fire pits only. Please extinguish campfires before retiring or leaving your site. All fires must be out by 11:00 pm.
  • Do not cut or damage any trees or shrubs.
  • Do not trespass in any posted restricted areas or other guests’ campsites.

TRASH REMOVAL

  • Household trash should be disposed of using regular trash bags. Blue bags for recycling are available at the office. 
  • The Resort provides daily trash pickup from your site. Please place bagged trash and recycle materials at roadside in the morning at 8:00 am.  
  • Do not burn trash in your campfire as it is a violation of local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Please help us maintain a neat and clean bathhouse by not dumping your personal garbage in the bathhouse trash cans.
  • Dumping wastewater on the ground is a violation of Vermont State Health law.

VEHICLES

  • Adhere to the designated speed limit of 15 MPH for all motorized and non-motorized vehicles.
  • Only licensed drivers may operate motorized vehicles, including golf carts, on the premises.  Children are not permitted to drive any vehicles.
  • Stick to designated roadways and avoid traversing through other campsites.
  • Limit vehicles at each campsite to a maximum of 2.  
  • Boats and trailers are not permitted at campsites; however, storage facilities are available for a fee.
  • Prohibited vehicles include ATVs, motorized scooters, mopeds, and minibikes.
  • Ensure all motorized vehicles and bicycles have functional lights and taillights/reflector during nighttime.
  • All vehicles must always remain on designated roads or pathways.
  • All electric-powered devices such as eBikes, one-wheel skateboards, and electric unicycles are required to observe the posted speed limit of 15 MPH. 

FLAGS/BANNERS/SIGNS

  • Guests are prohibited from displaying any political flags, banners, or signs on our premises.
  • Official US Flags, Military/POW, and School/Sport flags or signs are permitted at the discretion of Apple Island management. 
  • Flags depicting profanity or vulgar language are not allowed, as it is not conducive to our family-friendly environment. 
  • Approval of any flags, banners or signs is at the sole discretion of Apple Island management. Any violation of these policies may result in immediate removal from the resort premises.

DRONE USEAGE

  • Use of drones within the resort premises is strictly prohibited. This is to ensure the safety and privacy of everyone on-site.  

PETS

  • Only two pets are permitted per campsite.  
  • Pets must always be kept on a leash when outside.  Pets cannot be left unattended when outside.  
  • No fencing or pens are permitted.
  • Aggressive pets are not allowed on the premises.  Any instances of aggressive behavior may result in removal from the resort.
  • Pet waste must be immediately picked up and properly disposed of. There are pet waste disposal stations around the Resort.
  • Noisy or unruly pets or those that cause complaints will not be allowed to remain in the Resort.
  • Pets are not allowed in common areas, recreational areas, or neighbors’ campsites. Service animals are excluded.
  • Pet owners will be liable for any damages caused by their pet.

LAUNDRY AND BATHHOUSES

  • The laundry room and bathhouses are open 24 hours a day.
  • Laundry machines will only accept American coins.  Quarters can be purchased at the office during normal business hours.  

WATER AND SEWER

  • Washing and repairing of vehicles and RVs are not permitted. Those in violation will be charged $50.
  • Rubber sewer collar or screw-in male adapter must be used when connecting to sewer on campsite.
  • Do not flush anything other than human waste and RV toilet paper.

COMMUNITY CENTER

  • Appropriate attire is mandatory; swimwear is prohibited, and shoes must be always worn within the Community Center.
  • FITNESS CENTER
    • Use of the Fitness Center is at your own risk.  Guests under 18 years of age are not permitted to use the equipment or be in the Fitness Center.  
  • SWIMMING POOL & HOT TUB
  • No Lifeguard on duty – swim at your own risk.
  • Alcohol consumption is prohibited at both the pool, hot tub and the surrounding area.  
  • The pool and hot tub are for resident and guest use only.  Visitors must be accompanied by a resident or resort guest to use the facilities.  
  • Children under the age of 18 must always have adult supervision when using the swimming facilities.
  • Children under the age of 5 are not allowed in the hot tub.  Children who are 5 years old or older MUST always be under parental supervision.  
  • Children must be toilet trained, and the use of any type of diaper, including swim diapers, is strictly prohibited. 
  • Floats, arm bands, noodles, tubes, and flotation devices to assist small children in the pool are permitted.
  • Radios, etc. are to be played quietly and kept away from the water.
  • Apple Island Resort reserves the right to refuse admittance into our swimming facility when the capacity of the pool has been reached or when otherwise deemed necessary for health, welfare, or safety of our patrons.

FIRST AID KITS/AED STATIONS

  • First Aid Kits and AED stations are located at the Community Center, Golf Club, Marina, General Store, and the Resort Office.

SMOKING

  • Smoking is not permitted in any resort building.

DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIOR

  • We prioritize the comfort and enjoyment of all our guests. Therefore, we have a zero-tolerance policy for disruptive behavior. Any conduct that disturbs the peace, safety, or well-being of others will not be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to excessive noise, harassment, vandalism, or any other actions that detract from the positive atmosphere we strive to maintain. 
  • We ask all guests to respect their fellow campers and adhere to campground rules and regulations. Failure to do so may result in immediate removal from the resort premises.

FIREWORKS

  • Fireworks are strictly prohibited for the safety and comfort of all guests.

FIREARMS

  • Carrying firearms, whether concealed or openly, is strictly prohibited at Apple Island Resort. This policy applies to all guests and visitors.

PHOTOGRAPHY

  • Entering the resort constitutes permission for the staff of Apple Island Resort to photograph or film anyone while on-premises and to use the resulting photographs or film for any purpose without payment, inspection, or review.

STATEMENT OF LIABILITY AND CONDUCT
Apple Island Resort operates under private ownership, with Management exercising complete authority over all aspects of the Resort and its facilities, including strict enforcement of rules. Users of Apple Island Resort and its amenities assume all risks associated with their use and are responsible for any resulting injury or illness.

The Resort and Management hold no liability for stored units or personal property left on the premises, nor for any accidents, injuries, electrical or water outages, fires, thefts, or lost or stolen articles.

We reserve the right to evict any individual not adhering to the Resort’s guidelines or displaying behavior detrimental to the Resort or its guests. Failure to vacate immediately upon eviction will result in the individual being treated as a trespasser, with law enforcement authorities contacted accordingly.
